In partnership with
Embla for Simons Foundation employees

Lose weight with support built around your life

Embla is behavior-first support for weight and metabolic health. You work 1:1 with a health coach by video or chat to build habits that last. If you qualify, an independent licensed clinician can prescribe low-dose GLP-1 medication.

Part of your Simons Foundation benefits from January 1, 2027.

What you get with Embla

One program that covers the whole picture. Your coach is at the center, with the right support around you when you need it.

An Embla member at the center of her care: coach, clinicians, nurses, pharmacy, tapering, maintenance, sleep, movement, nutrition and mindset

Your own coach

Regular video calls and chat in the Embla app, with the same coach who gets to know you.

A plan for your whole life

Nutrition, movement, sleep and mindset, built around your work, your family and your routine. Support continues after you reach your goal.

Medical support if you need it

If medication could help, an independent licensed clinician decides with you, online. Includes a plan to taper off when clinically appropriate.

What makes Embla different?

Other programs often rely on medication alone or push short-term fixes. Embla starts with behavior change and uses medication responsibly, so the results last.

Healthy habits come first

Coaching is the core. You'll get real human support to help build and stick with habits that fit your real life.

GLP-1s, done responsibly

Medication is prescribed by an independent licensed clinician at the lowest effective dose, with medical monitoring, and paired with coaching from day one.

A plan to taper

When it's clinically appropriate, your independent clinician guides a gradual step-down, while your coach helps you hold on to your results.

Whole-person health

Weight is only part of it. Members often tell us they sleep better and have more energy.

Not sure you have time for a coach?

“I'll admit, I originally thought having to speak with a coach would be inconvenient and not very helpful. But I've been pleasantly surprised.”

Embla member, joined through work

Unsure about GLP-1 medication?

“We were initially a bit apprehensive about the GLP medications, but we were encouraged by how they were positioned as one resource in the overall journey, not the only solution.”

Embla member, joined with his wife

Tried before, and it didn't stick?

“I'm surprising myself. I never thought I'd be this consistent with something, because usually I started something then went back to how I was used to doing it.”

Embla member, joined through work

Worried it's just another app?

“My coach consistently checks in, even outside of scheduled coaching sessions, listens without judgment, and provides encouragement whenever I am feeling discouraged.”

Already on a GLP-1?

Already on a GLP-1? Keep going. Add a coach.

Simons Foundation is moving GLP-1 care for weight loss to Embla. You don't start over. Embla picks up where you are and adds a coach who helps you build habits that hold.

A clinician reviews your current treatment. An independent licensed clinician works to help avoid a gap in your treatment. If your current medication isn't offered through Embla, they'll talk through options with you.

One low co-pay. On EmblaThriveMD, your co-pay is $50 a month, with compounded or brand-name medication. It covers coaching, clinical care and medication. Simons Foundation pays the rest.

You gain a coach. 1:1 support on nutrition, movement, sleep, and mindset, plus unlimited chat in the Embla app.

You get a plan for later. When it's clinically appropriate, your clinician and coach help you step down gradually. Only when you're ready, never before.

Your privacy holds. Simons Foundation doesn't see your health information, what you discuss with your coach, or how you're doing.

Taking a GLP-1 for diabetes? Your diabetes medication stays with your pharmacy benefit, as it is today. You can still join EmblaThrive coaching at no cost to you.

All medication decisions, including any changes to your current prescription or dose, are made solely by an independent licensed clinician following a medical evaluation.

FAQs

Is there a cost?

EmblaThrive (coaching) is at no cost to you for Simons Foundation employees and dependents (18+) on the medical plan. EmblaThriveMD (coaching plus GLP-1 care) has a $50 monthly co-pay, with compounded or brand-name medication. That covers coaching, clinical care and medication. Simons Foundation pays the rest.

I take a GLP-1 for diabetes. Does this affect me?

Your diabetes medication, including a GLP-1 prescribed for diabetes, stays with your pharmacy benefit as it is today. Embla doesn't change that. You can still join EmblaThrive coaching at no cost to you, and keep working with your current doctor.

Who is eligible?

Simons Foundation employees and dependents (18+) enrolled in the Simons Foundation medical plan. EmblaThrive is open to everyone eligible. EmblaThriveMD is for those who meet the clinical criteria: a BMI of 30+, or a BMI of 27+ with at least one weight-related condition. If you already take a GLP-1 for weight loss, you don't need to meet the starting criteria again. An independent licensed clinician will make the final determination. Not all participants will qualify.

Can my family members join?

Yes, if they're 18 or older and enrolled in the Simons Foundation medical plan. Dependents can join EmblaThrive at no cost to them, and EmblaThriveMD on the same terms as employees.

Is medication guaranteed?

No. Medication is only prescribed if an independent licensed clinician determines it is appropriate for you following a medical evaluation. Not all participants will qualify. Treatment decisions are made solely by your licensed provider.

What medications are available?

Brand-name and compounded GLP-1 medications. Which one, if any, depends on what your independent licensed clinician determines is appropriate for you. Your co-pay is $50 a month either way.

Who are the clinicians, and what do they do?

Physicians and nurse practitioners licensed in your state, working with an independent medical practice. They review your history, decide whether GLP-1 treatment is appropriate, set your dose, monitor your progress, and decide if and when to step down. Coaches support your habits. They don't prescribe or make medical decisions.

What about my current doctor?

You keep them. Embla doesn't replace your primary care doctor or specialists. If you join EmblaThriveMD, an independent licensed clinician you connect with through Embla manages your GLP-1 prescription for weight loss, and your own doctor cares for everything else. We recommend letting your doctor know you've joined.

Is this confidential?

Yes. Simons Foundation doesn't see what you discuss with your coach, which medication you're on, or your weight progress. Your health information stays between you, your coach, and your independent licensed clinician.

What's expected from me?

Stay active in coaching and check in regularly in the app. If you're on medication, continued prescriptions depend on staying engaged. Your care team will guide you.

How much time do I need to invest?

Most members connect with their coach 2 to 4 times a month. You also have unlimited chat access through the app. Lasting change takes time, and results build over months, not weeks.
