What is included in a course at Embla? What do you get?

We offer a 100% online weight loss course so you can easily join from home. We combine weight loss medicine with research-based health coaching in diet, exercise and sleep. We teach you about a healthy lifestyle and organise a realistic course that is tailored to you, which you can stick to afterwards so that you do not have to continue with the medication after your desired weight loss. It is of course also possible to participate without the use of medication.

Once you have registered on the website, you will be contacted to set up an online health consultation with me or another nurse. We will ask you general questions about your health to make sure we can take good care of you and to understand your specific history.

After your health interview, one of our doctors will prescribe the medicine for you. You will have an online interview set up with your permanent health coach. Your coach will work with you to create a plan for the further process that will help you achieve your goals.

You will now continue in our weight loss program with coaching and medication in close ongoing dialogue with your Embla team consisting of a nurse, doctor and coach.

What are the side effects of the medicine you use for weight loss at Embla?

The medicine mimics the effect of one of the body's appetite-regulating substances. The medicine lowers your appetite and tells your brain that you are not that hungry. It helps you eat less. In addition, the medication makes your stomach empty more slowly. This will make you feel full for much longer. We all know the feeling of fullness after a large meal, but a side effect of the medication may be that you just have to get used to feeling full for so long. It can cause nausea and a feeling of bloating. Fortunately, not everyone experiences side effects. If you experience, for example, nausea, you can wait a little before increasing the dose of the medicine, which gives the body time to get used to the level of the medicine. There are also many tips on what is good and bad to eat and drink in connection with the medicine. It alleviates, for example, nausea quite a bit.

How much weight do you lose?

It is difficult to answer precisely, because it depends on many factors such as diet, exercise, gender and metabolism, etc. We usually set a target of 0.5-1 kg. weekly. That being said, some lose more weight than that. For example, we have experienced clients who lose 5-7 kg in the first 14 days. It is of course fantastic to have great results so quickly and feel motivated by that, but it is important that you can eventually manage by yourself and live in a way that you can comfortably follow afterwards and thus get rid of the medicine. If you live on carrots and run long walks every day - then you can only last a few weeks. It just becomes a demoralising task, where you are doomed to fail. The ideal outcome is both healthier and still enjoyable and will give you the opportunity to live with your new lifestyle for the long-term.

How long does a typical process at Embla take?

We work to ensure that you achieve lasting weight loss without needing the medication afterwards. It takes time to change habits, and you should expect a course with us to take 12 to 18 months, depending on how much weight you want to lose. During that time, we do everything to ensure that you can achieve and keep your goals. We believe that Embla is the weight loss course that will change your story and get you where you want to be.
